I’ve tried my share of peelers over the years: flimsy ones that break, heavy ones that tire your hand, and “multi” tools that promise everything but deliver very little. So when I got my hands on the new Zwilling Z-Cut 5-in-1, I went in with realistic expectations. Two months later, it’s the only peeler I reach for.
What Makes It Stand Out
The real game-changer is the Motion Ball joint – a smooth-moving ball that lets the blade head pivot and tilt freely in every direction. It automatically follows the shape of whatever you’re working on, so you’re not fighting curves or bumps. Your wrist stays comfortable the whole time.
You can also rotate the entire blade unit 90° and lock it into two different styles:
- Y-shape (cross direction) → ideal for long, thin vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, asparagus, or zucchini
- I-shape (lengthwise) → the classic style most people use for potatoes or apples
Add three interchangeable blades and you have a true all-in-one tool.
The Three Blades
- Standard straight blade – great for firm produce (potatoes, carrots, beets, apples)
- Serrated blade – perfect for softer or slippery skins (tomatoes, kiwis, peaches, bell peppers)
- Julienne blade – creates neat 3 mm strips for salads, stir-fries, or garnishes
Switching blades is quick: press the side button, slide one out, slide the new one in until it clicks. Each blade has its own clear protective cover for drawer storage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it actually dishwasher-safe?
A: Yes, I put mine in regularly with no issues.
Q: Does it work well for left-handed people?
A: Absolutely – the design is fully ambidextrous.
Q: Do the blades stay sharp?
A: So far, yes. They’re made from the same quality stainless steel Zwilling uses in its knives.
Q: Is the julienne function useful?
A: If you ever make vegetable noodles, slaws, or garnishes, definitely. If not, the other two blades still make it worthwhile.
Bottom Line
The Zwilling Z-Cut 5-in-1 is lightweight, clever, built to last, and genuinely makes prep work easier. If you’re tired of juggling multiple peelers or replacing cheap ones every year, this is a solid upgrade that will probably be the last peeler you need to buy for a very long time.
Worth every penny in my kitchen – and it’s earned a permanent spot in the drawer.
